Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the GTA 6 release date as November 19, 2026. This is not a rumor or a leak. The date appears in official trailers, press releases, and across Rockstar's verified marketing channels. For a game that has been in development since at least 2018, this confirmation ends nearly a decade of speculation.

The November 19, 2026 release puts GTA 6 squarely in the holiday shopping season, following the same playbook Rockstar used for GTA 5, which launched in September 2013 and became the highest grossing entertainment product of all time with over 7 billion dollars in revenue. Expect similar commercial dominance when GTA 6 hits shelves.

What makes this release particularly significant is the platform strategy. GTA 6 is launching exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. There will be no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version. The game is built from the ground up for SSD storage speeds and modern CPU architectures, which means older consoles simply cannot handle the technical demands.

You will need Windows 11 64-bit and at least 150GB of SSD storage.

For recommended settings at 1080p high or 1440p medium, expect to need an Intel Core i7-13700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA RTX 4070 or AMD RX 7800 XT. Ray tracing support will likely require an RTX 4080 or better for stable 60 frames per second. The game will almost certainly require an SSD due to the massive world streaming demands. A traditional hard drive will not be sufficient.

GTA 6 returns to Vice City, Rockstar's fictional version of Miami, but expands far beyond the city limits into Leonida State. The map is reportedly the largest in Rockstar history, featuring swamps, beaches, urban sprawl, and rural highways. The dual protagonist system puts you in control of Lucia and Jason, partners in crime with a relationship dynamic that influences gameplay.

The RAGE 9 engine delivers next-generation visuals with full ray tracing support, realistic water physics, dynamic weather including hurricanes, and advanced AI for NPCs that remember your interactions. Social media plays a narrative role, with characters using in-game platforms that parody TikTok and Instagram. Vehicles range from classic muscle cars to modern supercars, boats, aircraft, and apparently a return to drivable trains.

Industry analysts expect GTA 6 to retail between $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for a Collector's Edition. This pricing aligns with the 2026 market where AAA games have settled into the $70 base price tier following the PS5 and Xbox Series X generation transition. Rockstar may offer a Digital Deluxe edition in the $79.99 range with bonus in-game currency and cosmetic items.
