Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. It brought GTA V to PC nineteen months after consoles and Red Dead Redemption 2 thirteen months after. The same range would put a GTA 6 PC release in late 2027 or early 2028, which is arithmetic on past releases rather than anything Rockstar has said.
GTA 6 Pre-Orders: Analysts Estimate $1 Billion in the First Hour
GTA 6 pre-orders went live on June 25, 2026, and the results are staggering. According to analyst estimates from University of Virginia business professor Anthony Palomba, GTA 6 generated approximately $1 billion (£755 million) in revenue within the first hour of pre-orders opening. To put that in perspective, Rockstar may have recouped the majority of the game's estimated $1-1.5 billion development budget in just 60 minutes.
Multiple reports suggest over 39 million copies have been pre-ordered across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X platforms. The market responded immediately: Take-Two Interactive shares rose nearly 3% when pre-orders opened, reflecting investor confidence that GTA 6 will shatter every entertainment sales record in existence. GTA 5 currently holds the record for highest grossing entertainment product of all time with over $8.5 billion in lifetime revenue across 230 million copies sold. GTA 6 is on track to surpass that.
The pre-order performance validates the unprecedented hype surrounding this release. Rockstar's marketing campaign intensified throughout Summer 2026, with the Rockstar Games Launcher now showing 18.3 million players engaged with GTA 6 content. Additional marketing beats are planned for September and October 2026, building toward the November 19 launch. If the pre-order numbers hold, GTA 6 could become the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, outpacing even the biggest Marvel films and music releases.
GTA 6 Release Date November 19, 2026: Everything Confirmed So Far
Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the GTA 6 release date as November 19, 2026. This is not a rumor or a leak. The date appears in official trailers, press releases, and across Rockstar's verified marketing channels. For a game that has been in development since at least 2018, this confirmation ends nearly a decade of speculation.
The November 19, 2026 release puts GTA 6 squarely in the holiday shopping season, following the same playbook Rockstar used for GTA 5, which launched in September 2013 and became the highest grossing entertainment product of all time with over 7 billion dollars in revenue. Expect similar commercial dominance when GTA 6 hits shelves.
What makes this release particularly significant is the platform strategy. GTA 6 is launching exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. There will be no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version. The game is built from the ground up for SSD storage speeds and modern CPU architectures, which means older consoles simply cannot handle the technical demands.
GTA 6 PC Release Date: What We Know About the PC Version
PC players are asking the same question they ask before every Rockstar release: when do we get ours? The honest answer is that nobody outside Rockstar knows, because no PC version has been announced. What we have is the pattern. Grand Theft Auto V hit consoles in September 2013 and PC in April 2015, a gap of nineteen months. Red Dead Redemption 2 hit consoles in October 2018 and PC in November 2019, a gap of thirteen months. Apply that range to 19 November 2026 and you land somewhere between late 2027 and early 2028. Treat that as arithmetic, not as news.
Rockstar has reasons for this delay. Piracy concerns are higher on PC. Console sales drive the initial revenue spike. And the PC version requires additional optimization for the wide variety of hardware configurations. The upside for PC players is that the delayed release usually comes with superior graphics, mod support eventually, and all the updates and content that launched during the console exclusive period.
GTA 6 System Requirements: Can Your PC Run It?
Rockstar has published nothing here, and we are not going to invent it. There are no official GTA 6 PC requirements because there is no announced PC version. What we can give you is the real thing: the specs Rockstar publishes for the titles it already sells on PC.
Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, released in 2025, asks for a Core i7-4770 or FX-9590 with 8GB of memory and a GTX 1630 at minimum, and recommends a Core i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB and an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT. It needs 105GB and will not install on a mechanical drive. Red Dead Redemption 2, from 2019, asks for 150GB of space and recommends a GTX 1060 with 12GB of memory. Six years moved Rockstar’s floor up roughly two graphics card generations and made solid state storage compulsory.
If you want to prepare, that direction of travel is the only honest guide: 16GB of memory, an SSD with at least 150GB free, and a graphics card at or above the RTX 3060 class. Key Features and What Makes GTA 6 Different
GTA 6 returns to Vice City, Rockstar's fictional version of Miami, but expands far beyond the city limits into Leonida State. The map is reportedly the largest in Rockstar history, featuring swamps, beaches, urban sprawl, and rural highways. The dual protagonist system puts you in control of Lucia and Jason, partners in crime with a relationship dynamic that influences gameplay.
The RAGE 9 engine delivers next-generation visuals with full ray tracing support, realistic water physics, dynamic weather including hurricanes, and advanced AI for NPCs that remember your interactions. Social media plays a narrative role, with characters using in-game platforms that parody TikTok and Instagram. Vehicles range from classic muscle cars to modern supercars, boats, aircraft, and apparently a return to drivable trains.
GTA 6 Price and Editions
Industry analysts expect GTA 6 to retail between $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for a Collector's Edition. This pricing aligns with the 2026 market where AAA games have settled into the $70 base price tier following the PS5 and Xbox Series X generation transition. Rockstar may offer a Digital Deluxe edition in the $79.99 range with bonus in-game currency and cosmetic items.
